Work Experiences
I have had a few different work experiences that have taught me how to be a diligent and present employee. These work experiences are in many different fields as I began to understand what I want to do with my future. I believe all of these, while different, have taught me skills that will be beneficial in both a graduate program and as a Counselor.
Project Uplift: February 2024- Present
Over the summer 2024, I worked as a Roamer for Project Uplift. Project Uplift is a mentorship program in Lee County where pairs of Auburn students mentor children on a weekly basis in order to help them live a happier life and reduce the delinquency rate in our county. As a Roamer, I will visit children on the waiting list and make sure that they feel loved and wanted. I will also help new mentors as they begin the mentorship process. I have been a volunteer for Project Uplift for the past 3 years on a weekly basis and have been able to implement the interventions I learn in my classes into how I interact with my mentee. This already has and will continue to help me grow in my understanding of counseling diverse groups. I know that my experiences working with the children in Project Uplift will allow me to be a more compassionate, experienced, and intentional helping professional.

Babysitter: 2016- Present
Throughout Spring of 2024, I am working as a babysitter for a family in my area. I work three days a week for this family picking up the children from school and helping them with their homework. This job has been helpful to me in learning to gain connections with and have a positive influence on children who are younger than me. I have been a babysitter to various families in Birmingham and Auburn since 2016. Babysitting these children, as well as the families I have babysat since high school, has given me skills in responsibility and has taught me how to engage children and adolescents in a positive way.
ATC Interiors: 2022
Over the summer 2022, I worked for ATC Interiors as the assistant to the interior designer. I would do administrative work, run errands, and contact clients. This company was run by the Interior Designer, and I served as her assistant with anything she needed help with. This job helped me to learn how to be a dependable employee and gave me more skills in working with clients. I was able to learn from the Interior Designer about how to run the business in an effective way. While I am not going into a career in Interior Design, this experience allowed me to learn what interests me and gave me numerous professionalism skills.

Brasfield and Gorrie : 2020-2021

Throughout my senior year of high school, as well as the summer of 2021, I worked as an intern at Brasfield and Gorrie. Brasfield and Gorrie is one of the nation’s largest construction companies. Through my internship, I worked for the administrative assistants in the healthcare sector to contact subcontracting companies, create safety documents, and do any miscellaneous work for the employees. This experience gave me insight in high school as to what I wanted to do with my life. I learned that I loved the people aspect of my job. I was able to gain skills in professionalism and diligence through this internship. I know that the skills I gained working with others and working with older professionals gave me the ability to be a dependable employee in my future.
