Anna Prickett

Welcome!

My name is Anna Prickett and I am a recent graduate of Auburn University with a major in Human Development and Family Science and a minor in Counseling. I am beginning a graduate program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Auburn University starting in Fall of 2025.

Throughout my time at Auburn, I had numerous educational and volunteer involvements that have allowed me to gain experience in my goal of becoming a Counselor. First, I mentored a child through the organization Project Uplift for three years, where I learned skills in empathy and leadership as I regularly invest in this child and her family. Additionally, I have lead a community group through Auburn Community Church on a weekly basis for the past two years, further enriching my ability to invest in individuals of all ages and backgrounds. I completed my full time internship at the Big House Foundation, a non-profit that works with foster and adoptive families, giving me the knowledge and understanding of the need for trauma-informed professionals. Next, my understanding of the counseling field expanded through my Practicum experience at the Auburn University Marriage and Family Therapy Center. I have additionally been a part of a Research Lab, where I have gained understanding about the racial and ethnic socialization of African Immigrants, which has given me the opportunity to research for and write in multiple manuscripts. These research projects have given me the skills to be skilled and competent within an increasingly diverse society. I have served on leadership in the HDFS Professionals Club, which has given me the opportunity to serve at various organizations around Auburn such as Our House, The Alabama Youth Sheriff’s Ranch, The BigHouse Foundation and more. Finally, I have served in leadership through the Delta Gamma sorority, teaching me skills in hard work, creativity, and organization. I have had the privilege of serving individuals of all ages, and hope to continue to do this through my graduate degree and beyond.

Each of these experiences has enabled me to pursue my passions: serving others, building meaningful and loyal relationships, genuinely listening to people’s stories, and sharing the love and values rooted in my faith. This is why I want to be a Counselor. I want to invest in other people so they may reach more positive states as our world is going through such a mental health crisis. My strengths include empathy, compassion, diligence, and being a dependable worker. I will be able to use all of these strengths both in a graduate program as well as in the workforce as I meet my clients of all backgrounds and struggles. My experiences prove that I am able to relate to diverse groups of people. It is vital to me to be an active listener in all aspects of my life and serve people in a non-judgemental and compassionate way. I am excited to bring these strengths to both a graduate program and the counseling field.
